Cenote Chukum, an amazing Instagrammable spot

If you decide to do a day trip to visit a few cenotes outside Tulum, you cannot miss Cenote Chukum. Cenote Chukum is one of our favorite ones we have been to and it is by far the best cenote when you are looking to do underwater photography. The lighting in Cenote Chukum is incredibly beautiful making it the most instagrammable Cenote around Tulum to take underwater photos.

Cenote Chukum is semi-open and has a few small openings in the cave ceiling which let in some beams of sunlight. On a bright and sunny day, the light coming through these openings hits the water beautifully leaving you with incredible underwater sunrays. The natural phenomena looks spectacular above water but it is even more impressive if you put your snorkeling gear on and go for a dive.

Given the size and the depth of the Cenote Chukum, it is the perfect place for underwater photography. Cenote Chukum also has a zip line through the cave which is used as a different way to jump into the middle of the cenote. There are also three jumping platforms with different heights for every diving level

Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Cenote Chukum to see the sunrays is on a sunny day around noon. However, during this time, the cenote can be quite busy. If you are looking to have the cenote to yourself, the best time to visit is early in the morning or around 3:00 PM. We were there at 3:00 PM on a Monday and still had the perfect light for underwater photos while being the only ones in the cenote.

Hours: Monday to Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Entrance Fee: Day pass is $10 USD per person which includes parking, life vests, and lockers. There is also a day pass including lunch buffet which is $25 USD per person.
